Rise and shine!
Went to the grocery store and basically wasted time until noon when we had reservations for the all you can eat brunch at the resort restaurant. Normally $29pp, they gave us a coupon for $19. each. Well worth it. Complimentary champagne, lamb, sirloin, canadian bacon, eggs benedict, pizzas, lobster bisque, salmon, chicken. Fantastic. The bisque stole the show. And the dessert table! I've never seen anything like it. I had the german chocolate cake and didn't care who knew it. Num Num Num.
View from the restaurant, overlooks the ocean.
Had to work off bunch so since it was a goregous day with a bright blue sky we decided to check out the light houses. First stop was Pemaquid Lighthouse. This did not disappoint. It is an easy hours drive from the resort. There are rocky beaches and cliffs which are complex, beautiful and totally treacherous. You can walk on them but they get more slippery towards the water, and there is a sign that says lives have been lost so proceed with care. We found some small pools with live mussels and snails in them. Deek took a mussel to eat but it was still alive, and as the pool water looked a little brackish I had to object. Um, no.
The lighthouse still functions but the seafaring museum was alas, closed for the season. During the summer you can rent a room at the lighthouse. Wouldn't that be cool!
The next stop was to walk the 1 mile breakwater to Breakwater Lighthouse on Penobscot Bay. It was ccccccoold and windy. Deek didn't wear his coat, he was sorrrrrry and cold but lied about it, being the macho guy he is. Yes verily, there is video and photos of this herioc trek into the Maine wind but they too are on the canon.
Then it was back to the condo to warm up and eat dinner. I cooked in the wee bitty tiny kitchen that was like cooking with an Easy Bake Oven. Small and cramped, I still managed to make calm chowder, white asparagus with butter, parlsey and paprika, and chicken stuffed with broccoli. (I was choppin broccoli, choppin broccoli...shout out to SNL fans). I take it that most timeshare guests don't bother much with cooking their own meals when they can get the resort to do room service and drop off lobsta rolls.
Now for the evenings entertainment. On a book shelf there are diary books beginning with 1991 and going to 2017. This is the cover page of 1991 .... directions from the management to write a diary of your stay and make it JUICY!
LOL! I read some selections of the 1991 diary to Dietrich. Something about two couples, an argument, lots of margaritas, a Play Girl magazine, and that the Sunday all you can eat brunch cost $12.95pp back in the day. Heyyyy!
Well as it is now actually dark out and I am sitting on the porch (Deek bailed but turned on the outside lights for me) I may listen to the ocean waves for a bit and then take my champagne back inside. Tomorrow promises to be just as nice and we are taking the car ferry to Vinylhaven.
