Cape Cod here We Come!
It was our last day at Samoset and at least the fog had rolled back so we could see the sea as we were packing up this morning. Sad face. :(
I am totally bummed. I carried binoculars around all week hoping to see a moose and never did. The closest I got to seeing a moose was the 12pk of Moosehead in our condo fridge. (And I got ONE Dietrich, ONE).
Nor did we spot the other elusive Maine beast, the mysterious Maine Coon Cat. No matter. I placed one call to my cat connection in Jersey and hooked up a new cat. It shouldn't be that difficult but after all these animal protection laws, getting a new cat in Jersey is like trying to buy crack. Scoring crack may be easier then scoring a cat. Not that I do. So meet Margo the Maine Coon, coming to a Woodbury house near you in one week. The other cats will be pissed, but really, I don't care.
So soon we were off to Cape Cod. Along the way we stopped for a mini Preston convention at Lynnfield, MA.
Couldn't stay long though as we had another 3 hours to go to the cape. Down in Harshaw, Deek had an emotional visit with his Gram and Gramp on his dad's side. As I was traveling with a full dozen red roses (holding the vase upright with my feet for the 6 hour ride down there), I offered to let Dietrich give some to his Grama.
Then we were off to the point. We arrived at Provincetown (home of the original Pilgrim landing yeah! Bet they don't teach that in the history books! They landed on this little spit of land first but left and went to Plymouth, often spelled Plimouth in these parts.) We are staying at the absolutely adorable Snug Cottage. The owner told us with a straight face that the Pilgrims left due to the ginormous number of drag queens in town.
Checked in and heard that the whales are migrating off the cape, so we high tailed it over to Herring Crossing and Race Point at sunset. Alas, not a whale in sight but plenty of beautiful beach, and people making out in cars. Its just so romatico, as Dietrich likes to say.

Drove around a bit and settled on The Mews for dinner. Fantastical food. Spent 15 minutes driving around on these cramped miniscule streets and then realized it was literally a block away from the Snug, our starting point. Who knew.
And then for a real treat, back at the Snug we settled in to watch Andre on Plex, about a seal that had lived in Maine. A friend of mine met the real Andre back in the day. For those of you on Plex, and you know who you are, this is a cute film, filmed near Samoset. We just visited the harbor where he lived and the harbor master's office yesterday. Check it out.Although, in real life Andre was a seal, and in the flick he is a sea lion, but who is getting picky. Besides, the little girl in the film looks like Marisa, who I could totally see would conceal a baby sea lion in her bathrub.
So tomorrow we're doing the long haul, a 7 hour drive back home. Ugh.
BTW I never DID finish all those diaries. Guess I'll have to go back to Samoset another day! Thanks for following the blog. Stayed tuned for Blog 2018 which is our anniversary trip to the Moness Country Club in Scotland. Until then - Skol!
